OwyheeStar's Once In A Blue Moon -- 'Blue'
News!
Blue is not active siring litters. He was our second acquired Blue Stud Dog. He came from a litter sired by an International Show Champion. He participated in NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association) hunt tests as well as the Versatile Hunting Dog Federation (VHDF). We were fortunate to have the Cruft's Sporting Dog Winner come to judge an Idaho VHDF event. Part of the event was gauging or assessing the body structure. Blue got a Very Good, and on the QT we were told he would have netted an Excellent; however, with the Blue coat color being a disqualification they did not want to give him that kind of a rating. Nonetheless, he left his imprint on our OwyheeStar brand.
Blue had excellent body structure as well as a mild temperament. His offspring were always in demand. Not long after he retired (in 2017), we had someone approach us about getting him for a companion Weimaraner. It appeared to be an excellent Golden Year Placement. So, he is no longer living at OwyheeStar. Not to worry--we kept three females from the Blue-sired litters--Hattee (Zula Blue X Blue); Deja (Ginger X Blue), and Emma (Lacee X Blue).
